1962 (The Saimaa Canal Treaty), a part of the Saimaa channel which came
through Russian territory and Malyj Vysotskij Island (in Russian territorial
waters) were given to Finland for a 50 years term lease. The island is under
administration and protection Navy Base in Vystosk.
